Get up, brush yourself off and keep going

This morning I was out for a little 3 mile run with my workout buddy, Jill. I say run, but it is really more like a slow jog, but when I say I went for a run it sounds better in my head. So we met at our usual spot and headed in our usual direction. The first half mile is a little sloped. I can't call it "uphill" but there is a slight incline, so it feels uphill. Especially because for me the first mile is always a little tough. We had just reached the "top" of the incline and were on the flat, and I was starting to recover, breathing getting a little more normal, not so labored, when out of no where the cement lifted and I caught my toe (note the irregularity in the pavement shown in actual photo above) and I went down hard and with quite a thud. Poor Jill was shocked by my sudden drop to the ground and quickly came to my rescue to help me to my feet. Inside she had to have been laughing her butt off, but she was so kind not to laugh right out loud and poke total fun at her uncoordinated and not-so-graceful buddy. I have to say that I was in a little shock myself, and as I stood was pleasantly surprised that nothing hurt too bad. My hand got very minor road rash and it felt like I banged my elbow a little, but overall I was fine. So off we went and finished the 3 miles. Remember when you were a kid and you fell, tucked and rolled and got right back up. It was kind of like that, only I am much older and heavier now. But I was impressed with this old body of mine taking a little beating and getting right back at it. Way to go body! Thanks for being there for me!
